We are one month behind us in 2023 and I hope all of you are making great progress on your goals and desires for this year! As we enter the month of February, the month of love, we want to take a moment and explore what that can mean to us and for us.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to love yourself! Loving yourself means you are at peace and aware of who you are, what you feel and how you act. Once you are comfortable with you and loving yourself you can do the best at loving and caring for others.
“Self-care helps you be your best so you can help others”
When you focus on what makes you feel nourished it eases our feelings of stress and anxiety. There is no one-size-fits all regarding self-care practices. Whatever you choose to do, it should have a positive effect on your health and happiness. If one of the below suggestions stands out to you, why not start there.
Create a healthy mindset. You can do this by journaling, self or guided meditation, clinical hypnotherapy and clearing your mind from distractions by taking a break from screen time on all devices.
Create healthy coping strategies for any stresses that might occur in your life. You can do this by creating positive activities such as watching your favorite movie, listening to uplifting music, writing positive affirmations for yourself, asking others to help when you need it and setting boundaries to protect yourself.
Create a healthy body. Taking care of your body with nutrition, movement and rest. Try eating whole food meals, drinking plenty of water, getting a good night’s sleep, regular massage or trying a new fitness class.
Create a healthy space around you. Design your space that invokes the emotion you are seeking. Arrange your workspace in an organized, simple manner. Declutter and add plants or flowers to your living space for a more peaceful environment. Go for a walk along a trail to appeal to all your senses.
Create a healing spiritual life. Practice and engage in activities and practice on values and higher lessons that are most important to you. Your spiritual activities can include spending time in nature, helping in the community, joining a bible study and volunteering in groups.
Create activities and hobbies that interest you and make you happy. This is one way we can add joy to our day, it could include going on a hike, taking up a new sport or exercise class, playing a board game or creating art.
Create connections with healthy boundaries. Make time to connect with your friends and family, write to far away friends, connect with online groups or join a local group that fits in with your interests.
So yes, February is the month of Love and when we start with ourselves and take care of our needs we are at our optimum for maintaining our overall health and wellness and more than ready to be there for the ones we love!
